So what is the 'Valley of Death'?
Most readiness level 1–3 initiatives stall because one or more critical elements aren’t sufficiently developed to demonstrate viability. That’s the Valley of Death — the stretch where potential exists, but the fundamentals aren’t yet strong enough to attract investment.
Regensa Impact Corp. strengthens regenerative agriculture at the stage where the most promising face roadblocks. We focus on Readiness Levels 3 to 6—the gap between when seed or grant funding ends and when commercial capital is ready to engage. This is the fragile middle, where new ideas, emerging technologies, existing enterprises, and undervalued properties struggle not because they lack potential, but because they lack the readiness required for investment. Regensa builds the readiness conditions that 'de-risk' and turn what counts into the investable.
NASA originally created Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) to assess hardware innovations for flight. But regenerative agriculture isn’t just hardware. The classic TRL scale doesn’t capture the full set of conditions required for a real‑world opportunity to advance.
To address this, Regensa uses ORL (Opportunity Readiness Levels). ORL extends the readiness concept beyond hardware by assessing early‑stage opportunities across four tracks of Technology development, Market preparedness, Management capability, and Money (financial structure)
By advancing all four tracks in parallel, ORL bridges the Valley of Death — turning stalled ideas into opportunities that can move toward viability and commercialization.

In the mid-1970s, NASA developed the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale to assess the readiness of innovations for flight. While TRL is excellent for hardware, regenerative agriculture requires more than just a functional tool; it requires a functional ecosystem. Our Opportunity Readiness Level (ORL) framework extends NASA’s logic by integrating three additional pillars: Market traction, Management capability, and Money (financial structure). By advancing opportunities across all four dimensions, Regensa bridges the 'Valley of Death'—transforming stalled ideas into bankable, regenerative realities."
